Ekville Shelter - George Outerbridge Shelter
Biggest day on trail yet! I am absolutely beat. Before I forget, I saw my 1st bear yesterday! It was running adjacent to the trail about 20-30 feet away from trail.
We had planned to do a big day, so I left around 6 and knocked out the big climb before taking a break at a pretty overlook and calling my parents.
Everyone caught up and out little break turned into a nearly 2-hour-long chill fest. That was the theme of the day - lots of necessary long breaks. It's so fun to be hiking with friends again because we can take lots of breaks and laugh to break up the monotony of the day.
I took a nice long lunch break with everyone at a water cash (highlight of the day - northern PA has been super dry) and we all collectively had a meltdown over the fact that we were putting ourselves through hell with a 25 miles day.
The rest of the afternoon was uneventful, I was on the ridge the whole time and there were rocks (ugh) and some pretty ferns which were nice. I listened to my book and tried to power through the day. We made camp right before the shelter and got set up just before the rain. Town tomorrow!
