George Outerbridge Shelter - Wind Gap, PA
What a weird and wonderful day. We got to sleep in because we were so close to town. The hike into town was steep but short, and we were able to take a blue blaze right to Main Street in Palmerton. We were on a mission to eat at the diner and it was so yummy! Coffee and breaky in town are my absolute favorites.
As we were eating it started to rain, so we prolonged our time inside by going to resupply at the cute local market where they give thru hikers apples for free. We loitered HARD outside of the store and devised a plan to avoid hiking for the day.
We found a road that went all the way from Palmerton to Wind Gap, and there were several motels we could stay at. Obviously, we were sold, it was icing on the cake that we were able to bypass the infamous and dreaded climb out of Lehigh Gap and wouldn't have to walk on the ridge during a thunderstorm.
The road walk was easy but got boring after a while. Sticks and I walked together most of the time and we did a sing-along to Taylor Swift.
After a while Truffles and I walked together and that was nice, I really enjoy talking to him and hearing all his funny stories.
A couple of miles before Wind Gap, Sticks and I got a ride to secure our motel (which is disgusting). When the guys got there we weren't to Taco Bell before watching Family Feud before bed. Good day!
