Wind Gap, PA - Delaware Water Gap, PA
Thankfully we all survived the night at Travel Inn (and hopefully didn't get bed bugs).
We got breakfast at yet another diner (yum) before getting a hitch to the trailhead. The climb out of Wind Gap was steep but short, and once you were on the ridge I was able to cruise.
I hiked with Hangman and Truffles for a while before meeting a new friend named Brows. He and I hiked together for a few miles; it was kind of nice to hike with someone new and get to know them for a bit. Our whole crew took a super long break at a shelter and I was gifted some yummy freshly picked blackberries. We laughed and snacked - I stand by the fact that the most fun I have is while I'm not hiking.
We all rolled out together and took a fire road down to the main road to walk into town rather than descending on the ridge. The tail end of PA has been miserably rocky, I am so looking forward to getting out of here soon!
Unfortunately, the bottom fell out of the sky while we were on the road and we all got SOAKED. Hangman, Gooey, and I got a hitch to the Church of the Mountain which has a donation-based hostel for hikers. I felt like a drowned rat so it was really nice to take a hot shower. It was super crowded so we had to sleep on our pads on the floor, but we were thankful to be dry for the night.
