Delaware Water Gap - Stealth Site
Today has maybe been one of my favorite days on trail. We actually had bunks at the church last night and hiked out around 8:30am. Pretty early on we hit the New Jersey border and had a big photoshoot with our whole crew which was really fun.
We hoofed it up a hill and hit 1,300 miles before getting to Sunfish Pond. I was very disappointed that you can't swim in the pond, but it was still nice. Pimiento always said that ladies lower their standards at 1,300, so we had a good laugh about that all day.
We hiked around the pond and were all cruising individually when we walked up on a huge blueberry patch! We dropped our packs and began to feast. Shortly after we came upon a bald and had our first actual mountain view in a long time.
We hiked on to the Mohican Center for lunch where Show Pony left me some bourbon and chocolate trail magic. We drank and listed to Toby Keith on repeat (happy 4th).
Truffles and I took the AT to Catfish fire tower for another date while the rest of the group took a blue blaze. We just talked a lot and enjoyed the view on the tower. We caught back up and all hiked to a large stealth spot on a ridge. We had a big fire and watched fireworks down in the valley. Less than 900 miles to go and today it really hit me that this will end. I want to soak it all up (and also kiss Truffles).
