Fingerboard Shelter - Spiritual Retreat Center
Today was a jam-packed day that left me feeling super tired but accomplished. We started early with a lovely road walk around a lakeshore to a picnic area for early morning sodas and flushing toilets. Sticks and I continued on the road while the guys hiked the trail before we all reconvened at a shelter.
We trudged over the 7ish miles up and down some steep ass mountains before summiting Bear Mountain (so many steps...) Thankfully our arrival was celebrated with some yummy burgers, brownies, and fruit from a former thru hiker doing trail magic with her dad.
We also hit the 1400 miles mark before Bear Mountain which was very exciting!
We had to fight throngs of day hikers to get down the mountain, then even more as we walked around a lake to the zoo. The zoo was underwhelming at best, but I had so much fun walking through it with Truffles.
Next, our crew walked over the famous bridge below sea level (lowest point on trail) before we road walked around Anthony's Nose and cranked out a few more miles to a trailside store for dinner before heading to a free camping spot. We all took very cold showers; it feels so nice to be somewhat clean. Really crushing hard on Truffles.
