Day 113: July 13, 2021 (0 miles)

Pawling, NY / New York City

NYC baby! What a great but exhausting day. Gooey, Hangman, Truffles, and I all went into the city while Sticks and Slobber stayed back in Pawling. We woke up at 5am in order to walk into the town and catch the 6:30am train into the city. We were able to purchase our tickets without any issues and managed to get on the train and transfer trains all before finally getting on the last train to take us into the city.

The whole train experience was stressful just because none of us had any experience with public transportation. Thankfully we all survived and arrived in Grand Central Station by 9am.

The weather was perfect- super overcast and cool. Our first plan of action was to get to REI to try and get me a new pair of shoes and other odds and ends. My shoe journey was a bust (had to order online), but I ran into Butter and Low Gear which was so nice!

Afterwards we headed to the battery to hop on the free Staten Island Ferry, but not before watching shitty street performance. The ferry was beautiful - lots of great views of the skyline and Statue of Liberty.

After that none of us could decide what to do, so I made an executive decision that I wanted to do a sightseeing bus tour. Truffles joined me while Gooey and Hangman did their own thing. We had so much fun on the tour and got some good one-on-one time.

Our tour ran long so we missed the first train back, so Truffles and I walked the 4 miles back to the station where we all got on a 9:15pm train. We missed our transfer and ended up having to get a taxi... we got back at 12pm exhausted but with good memories.
