Day 118: July 18, 2021 (10 miles)

Race Trail Campsite - Great Barrington, MA

Woke up in the rain (again) and managed to do everything in my tent before breaking it down. I was up before everyone, and it's a good thing I checked in with my friends before hitting the trail because Slobber and Hangman let me know we didn't have to climb Mount Everet in the rain/lightning.

I sat around for an hour waiting for everyone; we finally embarked down a blue blaze around 8ish and the rain became a fine mist. I'm so glad we took the blue blaze (Race Brook Trail?) because it was beautiful!

We mainly descended along a gorgeous creek that flowed through a pine forest with lots of moss. Everything we had was already soaked and we knew we were going into town so we didn't care about all the mud and creek crossings. We even got to see/cross a really pretty waterfall which was nice.

The trail was only about 3 miles long, then we had a super uneventful road walk into town. Sticks and I got a hitch into town while the boys walked through a misquetto-infested bog. We got coffee before checking into Days Inn and commencing spa day. I showered, shaved (3 razors later), and did a face mask.

Once the guys arrived we walked to do laundry and resupply. After we did all our town chores we went to this yummy Thia restaurant for dinner and got some of the best ice cream I've ever had before going back to the hotel to watch TV and go to bed.

Per usual, Truffles made me laugh a lot today. I wish we were taking a 0 tomorrow, but at least we'll sleep in.
