Great Barrington, MA - South Wilcox Shelter
Today was a pretty good day. It helped to get my morale up which I needed desperately. I only managed to sleep in until 7am, but I slept alone in a nice cushy bed with lots of pillows so I was super comfy and decided to read in bed for a while.
Sticks, Slobber, and I were all in 1 room (the boys were next door and we had a suite) and of course, they got into a fight before we could even start the day... Sticks ended up crying for a while and I delayed breakfast to try and console her.
Once I was able to escape I went to enjoy the continental breakfast and ended up eating with Hokey Pokey and Not Weird. I haven't seen them since Trail Days so it was cool to catch up.
When I went back to the room we all had to pack up and get ready to hike once again. We went back into town to grab lunch at Subway and ran a few errands before deciding to road walk because several miles of trail were flooded.
We walked 5ish miles and Truffles and I walked and talked per usual. Once we were back on trail we didn't have far to go, but a decent portion of it was uphill. I felt pretty good despite the climbs (probably because I knew I didn't have far to go) and hiked alone the majority of the time.
We got to a large "pond" (aka lake) and I decided life is too short not to swim more - so I went swimming by myself! My friends were around but I was the only one in the water, it felt so nice to float around without a care in the world.
We hiked onto the shelter and tenting suks so we're all sleeping in the shelter. Hopefully not too many bugs...
