Glastonbury Fire Tower - Bourne Pond Stealth Site
Today was a weird day. We woke up in the rain and I ended up waiting around for almost 1.5 hours on everyone to get going... I normally wouldn't have sat around in the rain like that, but I knew we were planning to take a blue blaze somewhere and I didn't want to miss it.
We got a late start and hiked out in the rain around 8am. I hiked with Truffles and Hangman and we were soaked just barreling through mud puddles. So far VT is living p to its reputation of soul-sucking mud.
We all stopped at the first shelter about 4 miles from where we camped to try and come up with some kind of plan for the day. Sticks and Slobber got into a fight so Truffles and I left and hiked together to the next shelter where everyone stopped for lunch. Thankfully the sun came out and we were all able to warm up and halfway dry out.
We found a "primitive trail" and decided to take it instead of climbing a mountain, and I'm so glad we did! The trail was super flat, very woodsy, and beautiful! Truffles and I hiked together - I have really got it bad for him.
We caught up to the rest of the boys only to be informed that Sticks and Slobber bailed and were going into town... I was pissed (I desperately need a shower), but we decided to press on to the shelter and go into town tomorrow. We were following a trail around a lake and we found the most beautiful campsite on the water and decided to stay here. There are pine trees all around and mountains overlooking the water. I am happy.
