Day 46: May 6, 2021 (22.5 miles)

Stealth Site - Damascus, VA

What a day - our biggest yet! Dumb Horse, Creature, and I were up at ‘em around 8am and the trail was beautiful. We went through pastures with views and passed the famous AT symbol barn.

Beautiful rolling pastures with a barn near Shady Valley, TN

We met a wannabe trail angel (aka a trail runner who gave us granola bars) who told us all about Hermit Nick and his ghost dog, Paint. The terrain today was even more chill than yesterday and we were absolutely cruising! I really like hiking with Drew and Erika, Drew told us some hilarious stories about growing up with 6 siblings.

We cranked out almost 12 miles before lunch and ate with Ripper and Saint. While were there Butter rolled up and said he wanted to stay in town, so it didn’t take much to twist my arm to convince me to go in on a room between the 4 of us. We pushed on to the TN/VA border and had a photoshoot (duhh).

Our 3rd state! Virginia is for lovers

We figured out with the easy terrain we were doing 3+ miles an hour! It was a quick descent into town and thankfully it didn’t take too long to get to The Lodge. It’s beautiful, hands down the nicest place we’ve stayed yet. We walked to Food City and got a ton of fruit and dessert stuff which we ate on the porch around the fire. It was a great day, I deserve a break.

We made it to Damascus! Trail Town USA
