Trail Days in Damascus, Va - Jerry Knob Shelter
Back on trail with Creature, Dumb Horse, and Party Dave! I won't say morale is high because there is impending rain, but it feels much better to be back in familiar company. I woke up pretty hungover this morning and got myself together after eating some breakfast. We had lots of errands to run before we could get back on trail; everyone needed to do laundry and resupply.
Sugar drove us to the laundry mat in Glade Springs to get things started, and we were able to go to the grocery store and Dollar General while the clothes were washing. I don't know Sugar and Bowie all that well, but they are both super sweet and funny. I wanted to be able to spend more time with both of them because they are super interesting.
We had an hour drive with the 4 of us cramped in the backseat. I yellow blazed and skipped about 40 miles to get back on in Bland with my friends... #HYOY. We attempted to walk through a Dairy Queen drive-thru to no avail, so we went to Subway instead for lunch before going back to DQ for Blizzards.
We headed to the trailhead and sorted our food before saying bye to Sugar and Bowie. No one was excited to hike, but we got moving around 2:30pm and made it to camp by 8pm. The terrane was super manageable, hopefully it'll be similar tomorrow in the rain. I hope my spirits are high tomorrow.
