Angel’s Rest Hostel - Stealth Site
Today was a weird day. I woke up alone in my tent very hungover and sat on my phone until at least 8am. Forward had already hiked out so it was just DQ and I. The plan was for us to get a shuttle to this random trailhead near my tramily, hike 4 miles to the next shelter and wait for Creature and the crew to catch up.
DQ and I had a super slow start, we went to Hardees and sat on the curb for breakfast which was lovely. Our 10am shuttle had us hiking by 10:30 and since we weren’t going for I took my sweet time. I even stopped to play in the creek a bit!
We got to the shelter around 1 and sat there for 3 hours… Dumb Horse and Party Dave passed, but they were going further than Creature and Biscuit so DQ and I tried to wait for them. He and I talked the whole time and eventually gave up at 4pm. We hiked a few more miles to a subpar campsite, the only benefit being that the only water source for a while is close by. Creature never caught up, but someone passing said she and Biscuit stopped a little before our campsite. It’s weird not saying with my crew, but I like spending time with DQ even if he hikes really fast.
