Day 62: May 22, 2021 (14.7 miles)

4 Pines Hostel - Lambert Mountain Campsite

Today was after awesome day! We woke up (unintentionally) at the crack of dawn because of the roosters at the hostel.. we were back on trail by 8:30am, Creature and I hiked together and Dumb Horse and Biscuit were ahead, DQ went to the store for breakfast. We had a a decent climb through some cow pastures to start our day off and got nice and warm.

Trail magic from one of the sweetest trail angels, Grey Dog

Creature and I talked a lot and had great conversations all day. My favorite quote was her saying her memories would be called “Warm Soup and Penetration”. We got to the trail head parking lot and caught up with the boys who were with Grey Do and trail magic!

Posing on the cliffside

We chilled and ate for a bit before starting the climb up McAfee Knob. It was SO WEIRD to be around so many day hikers! Some stopped to ask how far were were going and were shocked when we told them about the length of the AT. The view at McAfee was great and I enjoyed our photoshoot with DQ, Dumb Horse, Creature, and Biscuit.

We ate lunch on the Knob and hung out for a while before descending - only to climb again for the Tinker Cliffs.

Creature and I took a break to enjoy the Cliffs before descending to the shelter (packed full of weekenders). We ate dinner with some friendly weekenders and are planning on getting up early in the morning. Exciting for Cracker Barrel and a shower!
