Day 75: June 4, 2021 (22 miles)

Blackrock Hut - Hightop Hut

Another big day! I am tired from two 20+ mile days in a row, I don't think I've done consecutive 20s before. I got out of camp around 7:15am after not a great night's sleep, it was super foggy and gross a majority of the morning. I was disappointed to not get pretty views from Black Rock, but was very motivated to get to Loft Mountain Campstore in hopes of getting coffee.

The morning was uneventful, just lots of gradual ups and downs. I got to the store just after 10am and they were out of coffee :( but I treated myself to a Starbucks bottled drink, chocolate muffin, and ice cream sandwich. There were lots of hikers hanging out at the store charing electronics and I caught up with El Jefe and AKA before hiking on. So far hiking in the Shennies has been kind of boring, nothing special happens between breaks but I guess that's just hiking.

I got stuck in another 20 minute downpour and was once again soaked, but I kind of dried off during lunch at a hut with some section hikers. At an overlook, I set my pack on the ledge and it rolled off and down the hill a ways, all I could do was watch and laugh.

I ran into Gooey and we road walked the last leg before the shelter. I saw Great Legs doing trail magic. I'm currently eating dinner with Botany, AKA, and El Jefe. Very ready for bed!

900 mile marker!
