Day 82: June 11, 2021 (9 miles)

David Besser Shelter - Harpers Ferry, WV

Everything I own is virtually soaked through, but it's okay because I'm going to town! I slept in the shelter last night; Burn, Old Yeller, and Linger all showed up around dark so it was nice to have them for company. Everyone was up early and I left camp around 7am.

It rained all night and continued raining all throughout the day. I don't really mind hiking in the rain, it just sucks to stop and be wet and cold and unable to check Guthooks. Thankfully it was mostly flat/downhill into town, and I was very rain/food motivated so I flew into town. I'm bummed I didn't get good views because of the rain, walking across the iconic bridge was less awe-inspiring in a downpour.

I made it to the ATC around 10:30am and had to wait behind a bunch of tourists for my polaroid and hang tag.

I reached the "psychological halfway point" in Harpers Ferry and got my hangtag and picture taken at the ATC

By 11am I had no idea what to do (I needed to kill time before my parents arrived) so I sat on the ATC porch for an hour waiting for friends. I met Red and he, Superman, and I went to lunch at the Rabbit Hole downtown before heading to the Quality Inn (all in a flash flood).

I hung out in DQ's room (after giving him a piece of my mind for leaving me) until my parent's arrived around 5pm. We got to our AirBnB, made dinner, and snuggled the dogs. Thankful for a place to dry out!

Rosie and Banjo were happy to see me!
