Day 87: June 17, 2021 ( 18 miles)

Ensign Cowell Shelter - Tumbling Run Shelter

It's been a while since I've done anything more than 15 and it felt good! I slept badly on my super slanted spot and was on trail by 7:30am. I wasn't looking forward to the early morning climb, but I crushed it and made it to the next shelter in time to socialize with AKA, Superman, Fro, and Boston. I also spent time talking to section hiker "Just John", who finished radiation for prostate cancer last week! I met Mocha and Chi at this shelter as well and really enjoyed talking to them, before I'd realized it, a whole hour had gone by!

I tried to pick up the pace which I hate doing. I really enjoy taking my time and not being in a hurry; I don't like it when I rush myself to be somewhere. I want to prolong this experience as much as possible and enjoy every day, something I can't do if I'm rushing.

ALDHA was out at Pennmore Park doing trail magic (meatball subs!) and I sat there talking to friends for over an hour.

Trail magic thanks to the lovely folks with ALDHA

Cardinal and I hiked out together and officially crossed the Mason Dixon line into PA - our 7th state!

He and I ended up hiking super fast and made it to this lovely shelter by 5:30pm. We had dinner with Red as the rest of our friends arrived. Today was a really good day. We are neroing tomorrow to camp in the yard of a bar, I'm excited!

Finally reached the north!
