Port Clinton Pavillon - Ekville Shelter
Today was a hot one! We knew it was going to get up into the 90s so our whole crew got up early. I was up at 4:30am and on the trail by 5:45am. The climb out of town wasn't too bad, I took lots of breaks and tried to drink a lot so I wouldn't overheat. I was alone most of the morning, but Truffles and Hangman caught up to me by a creek and we sat and chilled for a while before climbing up to the Pulpit and Pinnacle overlooks. Both views were supposed to be the best PA has to offer, and they were underwhelming at best.
Everyone else caught up at the Pinnacle and we sat and had a nice long lunch together. Me, Sticks, and Lost and Found hiked ahead of the boys for some "girl time" and the stories they have crack me up.
We all made it to the "shelter" before 4pm and got to just hang out. This shelter is basically just a garage behind the caretaker's house; we're all tenting in the field close by. There is a shower, flushing toilet, and charging station which is very exciting.
We weren't too far from town so we all decided to get a shuttle to Red Robin for dinner (Yum!) Once we were back to camp, Truffles and I sat in Gooey's hammock and talked before everyone else joined. It was a really nice evening.
